Classes will state if they are IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, or HYBRID. Hybrid classes will allow for both in person or remote attendance. You will receive the Zoom link with registration for hybrid classes. Hybrid classes include a class recording.


Learn to Crochet Series (weekday) HYBRID

January 9 + 16, 3:30-5:30, $68

Get started with the basics of crochet with a dishcloth and a handy little basket! We will learn to form a chain, single crochet flat and in the round, and crochet increases. These skills will get you started, whether you're making blankets, bags, or Amigurumi! No experience necessary.

Learn to Knit, One Dishcloth at a Time HYBRID

Weekday: January 9, 16, + 30, 6-8 PM, $102

Weekend: January 10, 17, + 31, 10 AM - 12 PM, $102

If you've never knit before or just need a refresher, this class will teach you all the basics. We'll start off with a simple garter stitch dishcloth, then learn the techniques to add new colors the second week, then add textured stitches in week 3. You'll be ready to knit so many projects after this class!

Knit Skills: The Nordic Bloom Cardigan or Vest HYBRID

January 10, 17, 24, Feb 14, 28, March 28, April 4 + 11, 1-3 PM, $272

Nordic Bloom is a striking colorwork design that can be knit as a vest or cardigan. We'll cover traditional and ladderback jacquard techniques for colorwork as well as bottom-up sweater construction and steeking (cutting your knits!) and picking up buttonbands. This pattern is jam-packed with technique, but still accessible for students who can confidently knit and purl in the round, and have previous experience knitting from a pattern.

Supplies:

Pattern for the Nordic Bloom vest/cardigan (available on Ravelry as an individual PDF or in the book Nordic Knits)

Aran or Bulky weight non-superwash yarn in 2 colors in yardage for your size

US 6/ 4 mm 32" circular needles and an extra US 6/ 4 mm needle (for the Tubular BO)

US 9/ 5.5 mm 32” / 80 cm circular needles for the main body

Crochet hook slightly smaller than your main needle size

Felting needle for steeking

(3) buttons around 1-1.5"

Stitch markers, stitch holders or waste yarn, tapestry needle


Knit Skills: Ramona Cardigan HYBRID

January 31, Feb 7, 21, March 7 + 21, 1 - 3 PM, $170

It's time to knit your first sweater (or maybe your first sweater that fits?) The Ramona is a classic cardigan with raglan sleeves and subtle waist shaping. We will cover swatching, sizing, and fit, as well as basic sweater construction and button bands. Students should be comfortable knitting and purling in the round, and reading basic patterns.

Materials:

Pattern for the Ramona cardigan from Elizabeth Smith (paper or pdf)

Aran or Bulky yarn for your size (Such as Eco Wool, Mecha, or Lucky Tweed)

Needles & Other Supplies:

• US 9/5.5 mm 32”/80 cm circ needle or size needed to obtain gauge.
• US 9/5.5 mm DPNs, or size used to obtain gauge (or you can use 32”/80 cm circ for the magic loop method).
• US 8/5 mm 32”/80 cm circ needle, or 1 needle size smaller than that used to obtain gauge (for button- band & neck ribbing).
• 8 stitch markers.
• 2 pieces of scrap yarn, approx 20”/51 cm in length (or other stich holder for sleeves)
• Tapestry needle.
• Locking stitch markers (for buttonhole placement).

Learn to Sew: Tool Roll IN PERSON

January 11, 11 AM - 2 PM, $51

Perfect for carrying your craft projects!

In this class, students will learn all the basic steps to sewing by machine, including how to set up the machine, adjust the settings, change a needle, wind a bobbin, and sew straight lines. Students will sew a tool roll that can be customized to hold anything from knitting needles or clay tools to pens and pencils.

Required Materials:

Your working sewing machine, and any accessories and manual (or rent one of ours)

2 Fat Quarters, or a half yard of quilting cotton (fabric does not need to be prewashed)

A fresh Universal 80/12 machine needle

Sewing with Knits: Toaster Sweatshirt IN PERSON

January 18 + 25, 11 AM - 2 PM, $102

Learn to work with knit fabrics while sewing a classic sweatshirt with raglan sleeves. We'll learn to sew with knits and apply bands and cuffs. Students should be comfortable independently setting up and sewing by machine, and have experience sewing garments from a pattern. Choose from the Linden, Toaster, or Cosmos sweatshirts.

Sewing machine with a zig zag stitch option (or rent a classroom machine)

We have all basic sewing supplies in the classroom, but you may want to bring your own sewing kit (scissors, pins, seam ripper, marking tools) for convenience.


Crochet Skills: Granny Squares HYBRID

Weekday: January 30, 3:30-5:30 PM, $34

Weekend: January 24, 10 AM - 12 PM, $34

Granny Squares are everywhere! If you can chain and single crochet, we'll teach you the rest! We'll cover double crochet and crochet pattern reading skills while making the first of many Granny Squares.

Work In Progress Help IN PERSON

We've all got a Work In Progress that could use some help! Join instructor Amie Palmer most Fridays for assistance with your knitting or crochet projects. This is an ongoing group class for students who are starting, working on, or need help completing projects. If you have any questions about whether your project is appropriate for this class, please contact the shop with a description.
