September 2022 Classes
Classes will state if they are IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, or HYBRID. Hybrid classes will allow for both in person or remote attendance. You will receive the Zoom link with registration for virtual and hybrid classes.
VACCINATION REQUIRED for in-person attendance. Masks must be worn at all times inside the shop and classroom. Hybrid and virtual classes include a class recording.
CANCELLED Sweater Skills: Coloring Book Raglan Sweater HYBRID

September 10, 17, 24, October 1 + 8, 10 am-12 pm $150
Want to knit your first sweater, or learn to make sweaters that fit just right? This classic raglan sweater class will cover a range of skills, starting with sizing and fit. We'll also learn general sweater construction, raglan shaping, twisted rib, German short rows, and jogless stripes. Students should have some experience knitting from a pattern, and comfortably knit and purl in the round.

Required Materials:
PDF pattern for the Coloring Book Raglan from Aimee Sher
Worsted Weight yarn for your size (depends on stripe pattern as well)
US 8 (5 mm) circular needles in 16" and 32" and preferred method for small circumference knitting
US 7 (4.5 mm) circular needles in 16" and 32" and preferred method for small circumference knitting
Tapestry needle
Waste yarn or holders for sleeves
Knit Skills: The Elvan Shawl HYBRID
September 10 + 17, 1-3 pm, $60

Learn the basics of knitting Intarsia designs, with some bobbles for good measure. The Elvan Shawl is an easy-to-wear elongated triangle with beginner-friendly geometric intarsia designs perfect for yarn scraps or mini-skeins. Students should have experience working from a pattern, and be comfortable knitting and purling. This two session class will cover techniques and troubleshooting enabling students to complete at their own pace.

US 5 (3.75 mm) circular needles, between 24" and 40"
Fingering weight yarn (740 yd MC, no more that 20 yd each of 9 CC)

Sew Your Own: Cielo Top HYBRID
September 11, 18, + 25, 10 am - 1 pm, $135
The Cielo Dress & Top is an easy, breezy take on a boxy tee and shift dress. We'll sew the Short Sleeve Top in three sessions. Loaded with interesting details and interchangeable features, it will fast become a wardrobe-building favorite. This class is suitable for a confident beginner who has made a garment before, and for intermediate sewists looking to build their construction skills.

Equipment Needed:
Sewing machine with straight stitch and zig-zag options, iron, ironing board, pressing ham, press cloth.
For lengthening/shortening pattern: extra paper and clear tape.

Paper scissors
Cotton, linen or linen blend fabric* in the yardage for your size and view
1/4 yard lightweight woven fusible interfacing (Shape Flex 101)

*Please do not purchase your fabric before the first class, as we will be going over skills that might change your yardage and final fabric type!
Basic Sewing Kit: sharp fabric shears, 2 x 18” clear ruler, tape measure, glass head pins, tailor’s chalk or other fabric marking tool, seam ripper.
Learn to Knit, One Washcloth at a Time HYBRID

September 24, October 1 + 8, 1- 3 pm, $90
NEW Morning Session- Same dates, 10 am- 12 pm
If you've never knit before or just need a refresher, this three-week class will teach you all the basics. We'll start off with a simple garter stitch dishcloth, then learn the techniques to add new colors the second week, then add textured stitches in week 3. You'll be ready to knit so many projects after this class!

3 colors of Worsted Weight cotton yarn like Nifty Cotton (with good contrast, no dark colors)

We've all got a knitting Work In Progress that could use some help! Join knitting instructor Amie Palmer most Fridays for guidance! If you've taken a class with Amie, or a knitting class at Freeman's Creative, come work on your projects with guidance and support. This is an ongoing series for students who are starting, working on, or need help completing projects.
