Learn how to reinforce and strengthen ripped or threadbare fabric with personalized flair, inspired by the tradition of Japanese Sashiko stitching. Using just a few simple sewing skills and basic materials, students will explore visible patching techniques. Open to all levels; basic hand sewing skills are helpful.
Instructor: Julia Gartrell
Materials:
Bring your shirts, jeans, bags, or any fabric item with a hole or weak area, and any fun scrap fabric and thread or embroidery floss you'd like to use. If you do not have anything with a hole but want to learn the technique, the skills can be practiced on a scrap piece of fabric.
