Classes will state if they are IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, or HYBRID. Hybrid classes will allow for both in person or remote attendance. You will receive the Zoom link with registration for hybrid classes. Hybrid classes include a class recording.


Knit Skills: Snowglobe Cabled Hat HYBRID

Weekday: November 7, 14 + December 5, 3:30-5:30 PM, $90

Weekend: November 15, 22 + December 6, 10 AM - 12 PM, $90

Cables offer a lot of bang for your buck!

Learn the basics of knitting cables with this classic hat, available in sizes to fit the whole family! We'll learn how to use a cable needle (and cable without one!), read cable charts, and practice increases and decreases, including a centered double decrease. Students should be able to knit and purl, and have experience working from a pattern.

Snowglobe Hat pattern from Tin Can Knits (Ravelry or Tin Can Knits website or app)

16" Circular US 4 (3.5 mm) and US 6 (4.0 mm)

Double Pointed Needles in US 6 (4.0 mm)

DK or light worsted weight yarn, ~200-240 yards depending on size

Knit Skills: Beginner Brioche Cowl HYBRID

November 1, 15 + 22, 1 PM - 3 PM, $90

Learn the basics of two-color Brioche knitting and make a cozy cowl! We will learn Twisted German cast on, brioche knit and brioche purl, and other fundamentals of brioche knitting while making the Basic Brioche Cowl from Daisy & Clover Designs. Students should be comfortable knitting and purling in the round.

16" Circular Needles, Sz 11;

Sew Your Own: Ilford Jacket IN PERSON

November 9, 16, 23, + 30, 11 AM - 2 PM, $180

Pockets, plackets, collars and cuffs! The Illford Jacket is a unisex chore coat, and the two lengths and multiple pocket pieces allow for endless customization. Students should be comfortable sewing independently by machine, maintaining a seam allowance, and have previous experience sewing garments from a pattern. We will cut our patterns and fabric together in class. Heavier fabrics and the placket sleeve are suitable for more experienced students.

Materials:

Pattern for the Ilford Jacket from Friday Pattern Co

Mid- or Bottom-weight fabric in the yardage for your size and view (Flannel, denim, twill, corduroy, canvas...)

1 yard lightweight woven fusible interfacing (such as Shape Flex 101)

Five - ten 7/8” - 1 1/4” buttons, depending on view (needed for last class)

All-purpose thread

Fresh machine needles suited to your weight of fabric

Your working sewing machine (or rent one of ours) with manual and buttonhole attachment

You may want to bring your own basic sewing kit (fabric shears, clear ruler, tape measure, straight pins, seam gauge, seam ripper) but we do have shared tools available for use in the classroom

Work In Progress Help IN PERSON

November 7 or 14, 1-3 pm, $30

We've all got a Work In Progress that could use some help! Join instructor Amie Palmer most Fridays for assistance with your knitting or crochet projects. This is an ongoing group class for students who are starting, working on, or need help completing projects. If you have any questions about whether your project is appropriate for this class, please contact the shop with a description.
