Classes will state if they are IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, or HYBRID. Hybrid classes will allow for both in person or remote attendance. You will receive the Zoom link with registration for hybrid classes. Hybrid classes include a class recording.
Sew Your Own: Magic Pants IN PERSON
July 11 + 12, 12 - 5 PM, $170
Make Magic in a weekend! The Magic Pants are uniquely designed trousers with polished style and hidden comfort. We'll learn basic pants construction as well as installing the concealed elastic waistband, pocket bags, and strap hardware. Students should have previous experience sewing from a pattern. Students should cut their fabric in advance of the class.
Instructor: Ann Tilley
Materials:
Pattern for the Magic Pants from Ann Tilley (expanded size range available from 34-66" hip measurement)
2.5-3 yds of light to midweight woven fabric, prewashed
1/2 yd lightweight fabric such as quilting cotton for pocket bags OR use main fabric
1/4 yd midweight interfacing such as SF101
Coordinating thread
Sewing Machine (or rent a classroom machine)
Basic Sewing Kit (scissors, pins, marking tools) or use classroom supplies
-Pre-wash + cut-out fabric for pants and pocket pieces (you can wait to cut out the little facing + strap pieces)
-If you have sizing questions, go by your hip measurement as other areas have adjustable fit.
-All notions will be provided (ribbing, D-rings, elastic, twill tape, snaps) but students are welcome to bring additional or alternative options.
Sewing Sessions with Erin IN PERSON
July 17, 5 - 7 PM, $34
Ready to build your skills, try something new, or get out of the house & chat with other sewing folk? Join instructor Erin West for support & guidance in this 2-hour group sewing workshop. Bring a project, ask questions and brainstorm new ideas. Must be comfortable setting up a machine & working independently. Use of our classroom equipment included (machine, iron, scissors, etc) or BYO favorite tools.
Include your project info so the instructor can prepare to best help you.
English Paper Piecing Basics IN PERSON- CANCELLED
July 18, 11 AM - 3 PM, $68
Learn the basic methods of English Paper Piecing (or EPP) including: glue basting, cutting, and folding 1 inch hexagons; attaching hexis to each other, and prepping your pieces for use in a larger project. You will also learn some tips and tricks about EPP throughout. No previous experience required!
You will be sent home with a pattern and instructions for a basic e-reader sleeve.
Instructor: Kemper Wray
Required Supplies:
- 5 fat quarters in coordinating prints
- Quilt batting measuring roughly 8” x 14”
- Sewline Glue Pen (or Purple Elmer’s Glue stick)
- Basic Sewing Kit (scissors, pins, marking tools) or use classroom supplies
- DecoBob Thread
- A thimble in your size (leather is preferable)
Provided by Instructor:
- 1 in hexagon pieces printed on Perfect Piecing paper (you may wish to buy your own Perfect Piecing paper as well)
Sew Your Own: Cottesloe Swimsuit IN PERSON
July 19 + 26, 11 AM - 2 PM, $102
Dive into sewing your own swimwear! The Cottesloe suit has a one or two-piece option and will grow your confidence sewing stretch fabrics. We will select our size, cut our fabrics, and make comfortable swimwear, no serger necessary. Students should have experience sewing garments from a pattern, and should be comfortable cutting fabric and setting up a machine. Experience with knits is helpful. You will need a machine with a zig-zag or other stretch stitch.
We will cut our patterns and fabric in class.
Instructor: Erin West
Required Materials:
Cottesloe swimsuit pattern (sizes 20-30 PDF only)
1-1.5 yds of swim fabric with at least 50% stretch, depending on view and size
Polyester thread
Swim lining
Ballpoint or stretch needle (80/12 or 70/10)
1/4", 1/2", and 1" swim elastic based on view
Work In Progress Help IN PERSON

We've all got a Work In Progress that could use some help! Join instructor Amie Palmer most Fridays for assistance with your knitting or crochet projects. This is an ongoing group class for students who are starting, working on, or need help completing projects. If you have any questions about whether your project is appropriate for this class, please contact the shop with a description.
