Classes will state if they are IN PERSON, VIRTUAL, or HYBRID. Hybrid classes will allow for both in person or remote attendance. You will receive the Zoom link with registration for hybrid classes. Hybrid classes include a class recording.
Learn to Knit, One Dishcloth at a Time HYBRID
Weekday Session: September 5, 12, 26, 3:30-5:30 PM, $90
Weekend Session: September 6, 13, 27, 10 AM- 12 PM, $90
If you've never knit before or just need a refresher, this class will teach you all the basics. We'll start off with a simple garter stitch dishcloth, then learn the techniques to add new colors the second week, then add textured stitches in week 3. You'll be ready to knit so many projects after this class!

3 colors of Worsted Weight cotton yarn like Coastal Cotton (with good contrast, no dark colors)

Learn to Sew: Tool Roll IN PERSON
September 7, 11 am-2 pm, $45
In this class, students will learn all the basic steps to sewing by machine, including how to set up the machine, adjust the settings, change a needle, wind a bobbin, and sew straight lines. Students will sew a tool roll that can be customized to hold anything from knitting needles or clay tools to pens and pencils.

Your working sewing machine, and any accessories and manual (or rent one of ours)
2 Fat Quarters, or a half yard of quilting cotton (fabric does not need to be prewashed)
A fresh Universal 80/12 machine needle

Sewing Skills: Zipper Pouch IN PERSON
September 14, 11 AM - 2 PM, $45
Keep growing your sewing skills with a Boxed Zipper Bag! We'll learn to insert a zipper, use fusible interfacing, sew a bag lining, and create boxed corners. Students should be able to set up and thread a machine and sew straight seams while maintaining an accurate seam allowance.

Crochet Skills: Granny Bucket Hat CANCELLED
September 13, 1 pm-4 pm, $45
What can you make with all those granny squares? How 'bout a bucket hat! We'll practice seaming and finishing techniques, like the crab stitch hem. Come to class with your 5 granny squares and the hat crown (all half-double crochet) completed; we'll join and add our brim in class.

Intro to Paper Patterns IN PERSON
September 19, 6-8 PM, $30
Looking to expand your sewing skills, but perplexed by paper patterns? Find your measurements, choose your size and learn what to do when you're between sizes, and decipher all the symbols and markings on your pattern! Bring any pattern you'd like to sew and get started on your next project! This class is perfect preparation for any of our garment sewing classes.

English Paper Piecing Basic IN PERSON
September 20, 12 pm- 4 pm, $60
Learn the basic methods of English Paper Piecing (or EPP) including: glue basting, cutting, and folding 1 inch hexagons; attaching hexis to each other, and prepping your pieces for use in a larger project. You will also learn some tips and tricks about EPP throughout. No previous experience required!
You will be sent home with a pattern and instructions for a basic e-reader sleeve.

Required Supplies:
- 5 fat quarters in coordinating prints
- Quilt batting measuring roughly 8” x 14”
- Sewline Glue Pen (or Purple Elmer’s Glue stick)
- Basic Sewing Kit (scissors, pins, marking tools) or use classroom supplies
- DecoBob Thread
- A thimble in your size (leather is preferable)
Provided by Instructor:
- 1 in hexagon pieces printed on Perfect Piecing paper (you may wish to buy your own Perfect Piecing paper as well)
Sewing Skills: Crisscross Apron IN PERSON
September 21, 11 am-2 pm, $45
Sew this beginner-friendly, reversible apron, and level up your sewing skills! We'll cover how to trace pattern pieces, and skills like sewing hems, topstitching, and sewing pockets. Students should be comfortable setting up and threading their machine independently.

Mending Skills: Darning Socks + Knitwear IN PERSON
September 28, 11 am-2 pm, $45
Learn how to reweave fabric over a hole or weakened area in a piece of knitwear or on a sock. Using just a few simple sewing skills and basic materials, students will be able to strengthen and reinforce fabric, while creating a visible or more subtle repair. Open to all levels; basic hand sewing skills are helpful. Understanding of knitting structure is useful for optional, more advanced knitwear repair techniques.
Instructor: Julia Gartrell
Materials:
Bring your socks or knitwear with holes and matching or contrasting darning thread/yarn (only if desired--- some materials available to use, but may not match). If you do not have anything with a hole but want to learn the technique, the skills can be practiced on a scrap piece of fabric.
Provided: Embroidery hoop and/or darning egg, pins, needles, scissors
Work In Progress Help IN PERSON
Fridays, September 5, 12, + 26, 1-3 pm, $30

We've all got a Work In Progress that could use some help! Join instructor Amie Palmer most Fridays for assistance with your knitting or crochet projects. This is an ongoing group class for students who are starting, working on, or need help completing projects. If you have any questions about whether your project is appropriate for this class, please contact the shop with a description.
